A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art.

The Giveaway

pixnstories-038-copy.jpg

For some, it was just a simple box with a freebie inside that serves as token of appreciation for coming to the party. For her, the freebie inside the box is more that what it looks like. It is the symbol of her unbridled love.

She was with another boy her age at present. But she could not forget. She knows it is not fair to feel this way when she is already acting like a bonbon to her current boyfriend. Then again, she could not help it. The tenderness if the memories still haunts.

Little Miss Philippines

pixnstories-036-copy.jpg

Listening to these little misses one day is like listening to the little, cute contestants of a noontime show.

Little Miss a: When I grow up, I will not marry.

Me: Why?

Little Miss a: I will only have children. I will not marry. That would be much better.

Little Miss b: (Silent.)

Little Miss c: We are going to a party.

Me: Oh, really? Whose party?

Little Miss a and c: Our cousin.

Little Miss c: I will wear a beautiful dress. It will be a contest of beautiful girls like me.

Me: (Laughs.)

Now, who’s gonna win the Little Miss Philippines contest?

Hello, Kitty

pixnstories-034-copy.jpg

As I look at her sleeping soundly on my palm, I begin to wonder about life’s mystery. Just looking at this tiny thing makes me feel blessed. Holding her makes me realize the connection of each living thing, the importance of life, the beauty of life. and death, even.

I begin to entertain thoughts what if I let her slip and fall from my palm. Will the little kitty die instantly? Will I squirm in horror or remain motionless because of fear? Will I be able to sleep as soundly as she is sleeping right now?

Hello, kitty. I wish you will remain as tame as you are. But it is the feline quality that will not make you as lovable as you are right now. Someday, you will not even go near me except for food.

Surprise, surprise!

pixnstories-016.jpg

It was Christmas day. Visitors come and go. After lunch, her daughter told her that she is going out to see her boyfriend. She was a little adamant about the idea of her going out on Christmas day. “It is suppose to be family day,” she replied without a word but decided to let her go. This is with the condition that she must be back sooner.

At two o’clock there were no visitors so she took a nap on the sofa. She must have dozed off because she was not awakened by her daughter returning from the mall. When she sat, still not oblivious of the people in the house, her daughter came out of the dining room and gave her a brown bag. “Ma, our Christmas gift to you.” It was a big surprise. She felt very happy and guilty at the same time.
