Monster

pixnstories-058-copy.jpg

During recess, little Melanie noticed that her teacher looked worried and restless while she talked to the other teachers in the faculty room. In the school ground, there seemed a commotion, too. Mothers who wait for their kids were busy buzzing and seemed restless, too.

After recess, the students, including Melanie went back to their room. Their teacher announced that they will be sent home earlier than the usual time. She also told the class that they have to tell them always when they wanted to pee. They are not supposed to leave the room unattended.

Since it was still early, little Melanie’s mother came late although not really late. She was always on time. It was the school’s decision to let the children go home ten minutes earlier that made her mother late. Melanie was left inside the clinic with the nurse while she waits.

When her mother came, she asked what the teacher had told her. “Honey, the teacher said that they caught a rapist inside the comfort room,” her mother answered nervously. Because of fear and the unusual expression in her mother’s face, Melanie did not even bother to ask what a rapist is.

On their way home, little Melanie could not erase the thought of a hairy monster, big, dark, with sharp teeth and claws. This was the rapist, she thought. She never bothered to ask her mother from then on in fear of the rapist. She never also bothered to go to the comfort room because of this monster in her mind. She peed in her seat always, everyday, until the school ends.

She twists and turns and believes she is a cat. It was a school fair but nobody seems to notice that she is mimicking a cat.

One of the students in the school notices the pretty little girl. He approaches and growls like a mad dog. Afraid, she runs towards her mother, crying. She did not see a block of stone on the pavement and trips and falls.

“Waaaaaahhhhh…!” she wails hard, “I don’t wanna be a pussy cat anymore!”

Pretty B* was with her father all dressed up going somewhere. A neighbor asked where she’s going. She just stared. The neighbor asked her again. When she just stared again, her father coaxed her to tell the neighbor where they are going. Finally, she talked and told the woman that they were going out to SM. The neighbor asked, jesting, if she could come with her. And here’s the answer:

“I don’t like. You’re ugly!”

Listening to these little misses one day is like listening to the little, cute contestants of a noontime show.

Little Miss a: When I grow up, I will not marry.

Me: Why?

Little Miss a: I will only have children. I will not marry. That would be much better.

Little Miss b: (Silent.)

Little Miss c: We are going to a party.

Me: Oh, really? Whose party?

Little Miss a and c: Our cousin.

Little Miss c: I will wear a beautiful dress. It will be a contest of beautiful girls like me.

Me: (Laughs.)

Now, who’s gonna win the Little Miss Philippines contest?

Spider Hunting

pixnstories-035-copy.jpg

She was with her mother when she visited her ninang’s house. Her ninang was very happy to see her. It was six years already. Her ninang told her that she had already grown big. She did not mind at all.

What took her interest were the cobwebs in the kitchen. She spotted two of them probably playing or busy spinning webs. All of a sudden she took off her shoes and her socks. To her amazement, her mother asked her what she’s doing and tried to stop her. But she continued and after removing everything from her feet walked barefooted to a corner in the kitchen where the cobwebs are.

Horrified, her mother almost yelled and called her name. She just answered that there are spiders and she had got to catch them. Her ninang pacified her mother and told her it’s okay. She went to the kitchen, opened the cabinet, and took out a bottle.

“Here, you can put them here, “ her ninang smiled while handing her the bottle.

She gladly reached for it and put the two spiders lovingly inside the bottle. Then she roamed again to the corners of the house.
