They went to Divisoria to buy fruits in the hope that they would find cheaper ones than those sold in the supermarket and even in the local markets. As they walk in the midst of clusters of people also looking for fruits for the new year, they chanced upon the fresh cherries in one of the stalls.
How much is a kilo?” they asked.
“P1,200 pesos, ma’am,” came the reply.
They hastily left the stall and saw a stall with those beautiful and big Fuji apples.
“How much is a piece?”they asked.
“P350 pesos, ma’am!” came the reply.
“Let’s go,” said one of them. “New Year will pass without those fruits!”

I don’t really believe in having luck because of round fruits. People make their own luck. But I still like having fruits in my table since they look good and is good to eat too. I just don’t comply with having twelve kind or that it has to be round

I have never heard of New Year fruits. Of course they’d look nice on the table and taste good too but I agree with Rey; luck comes when you make it.
(:
P1200; that is expensive. What kind of fruit is that?

i don’t believe in luck, too, rey. i share your opinion on this matter. i don’t buy 12 round fruits for the new year. that’s ridiculous.
it is a common practice in the Philippines, kyels, to have 12 fruits on the table on New Year. i heard others say that they did not buy 12 fruits, 8 is a luckier number so they only bought 8.

Hahaha funny. Even without those fruits, wishing the new year would be fruitful all through out.

Cherries were going for 800pesos/kilo before New Year’s Eve in Ongpin, and I thought it was steep.
By narissa on Jan 7, 2008 | Reply
that’s cheaper, eric. did you buy those cherries?
By meds on Jan 8, 2008 | Reply
