It was one of those nights that he had to walk her home from school. As they walked slowly, not wanting to hurry up, they talked a lot, about things in school, about their classmates, about everything. It was like the stories never end.

When they reach her house, he greeted her parents, waved goodbye. “No flowers?” asked her mother when he’d left. “None.”"That’s weird,” said her mother again. Thirty minutes later, he knocked on the door of her house, with a bunch of tulips. Smilingly timidly, he gave the tulips to her. She accepted them without a word but that he takes care on his way home.

Everybody was laughing when he left. “Still young. Imagine he had forgotten to buy flowers for you on Valentine’s Day!” her mother exclaimed.

“At least, he came to his senses and probably thought there’s something missing,” her father said. “And he bought tulips! I remember… I’d like to say ‘Sorry, Ma’, I haven’t given a single flower to you when we were still young.”
